About the Environment Librarians Network
The Environment Librarians Network (ELN) was formed in 1992 by a number of librarians interested in environmental issues or with library services and collections covering environmental subjects. ELN was set up to allow interested librarians to discuss issues and to find out more about environment collections and information.
From the initial 14 librarians who attended the first meeting at the ALIA conference in Albury in 1992, the network has now grown to some 170 Australian and overseas members. ELN attempts to organise meetings in conjunction with other library conferences.
Following the Special Libraries conference in Sydney in 1995 ELN established a gratis interlibrary loan network for participating libraries.
Discussion group
A discussion group was established in January 1997 as a means of electronically exchanging serials and duplicate lists. You can join and participate or just look at the archives on the Net.
This discussion group and the website have now replaced the quarterly newsletter. Suggestions from members for additional links and other ways of electronically distributing information are always welcome.
